My favorite poet :)

He is? What poems should I look out for?
Ok, putting my memory to the test, lol but "Mistress Going to Bed" has this line (or something close to it) "License my roving hands, let them go,
Before, behind, between, above, below."
That I love.
Umm, "Forbidden Mourning" and "Ecstasy" are the names of my other favorites.
I think his most famous is "Canonization" though.
Always liked the sexuality in his poems, poetry is all about the emotions for me :)
Ok, right after I typed this I hope Mistress isn't Lord Byron that I'm confusing it with...

I found Mistress. :)

I read Canonisation earlier tonight. I liked it. I'm not sure his entire canon is for me, but I'm beginning to see themes in his poetry. I wonder whether he was an influence to Byron and the "Romantics"? I also wonder what the Victorians made of his love poems?
I’m sure the religious aspects were liked and some ignoring happened with the religious and sexual twining around each other

I really look forward to the religious poems, too. They are in the final part of the collection. Dorothy L. Sayers led me to Donne, by the way. She quotes him a lot, even some in the Wimsey novels.
