Would DuMaurier's Frenchman's Creek qualify for the pirate square? I haven't read it, yet, but the description sounds pirate-y.

Lovely review of The Ranger.
I think having Moonlight's checklist made the book even more entertaining.

As for pirates, I love DuMaurier, but after the fun I had reading The Ranger, I'm tempted to go with something that's got a Fabio-esque cover.

I hear ya on the pirate romance front - and I already look forward to your updates/review of whatever jolly swashbuckling adventure you end up with.
I do so hope that "the Chippendales" stays with me when my ILL'd copy shows up.

And I'll be honest, my enjoyment of 'romance' novels is often similar to my love of B movies. Sometimes things are just AMAZINGLY trashy and I love giggling through them.

This was a fun review! And I'm now looking at the first book in this series for my own 'Man in a Kilt' square.
You absolutely have to use Moonlight Reader's guide while you're reading. It makes it even more fun.
