Ah, I've had those moments. I'm actually currently reading comic series out of order due to Omnibuses and then mini-series that take place between with no real idea of the true chronology.

I'm having lots of those moments currently, I guess you could say!

I once brought home two books from the library of the same approximate size and from the same publisher. I read about twenty pages that night and then picked up the book again in the morning and nothing made sense (I had opened the second book in the morning without looking at the cover and turned to the page I remembered stopping at...that was before I bothered with bookmarks).

I love this series in a squee-ing fanpoodle pee-on-floor way. Cannot express how much. I've read all but the presumably last one (#9). Huge fan. Seriously love them.

But — with number 8 "Blood of Tyrants" there are three parts (labeled). The first part with Laurence shipwrecked with amnesia I firmly believe can be skipped. Goes nowhere in storyline other than visiting/learning another new culture, does nothing except drag and bleak it up. I suppose it's remotely possible there's something vital to the finale book in that part.

Books 5 and 6, oh my. Those were particularly exciting and intense even for this series, Both ★★★★★ reads for me.
Can't wait! I'm probably going to binge on them one after the other. I've just opened my KIndle and it shows I stopped reading book 3 after 86%, so it's no wonder I was confused. Ah well, at least I know the egg hatched safely. Oops.
