Doesn't seem fair that grackles have a reputation for being ugly.
Yeah, I don't buy the 'ugly' tag. I think they're beautiful. They can be an annoyance when they scare other birds off the feeder. And I've seen them attack and kill young sparrows. But I still like watching them. Especially in the breeding season when the males fluff up their feathers to attract the females.

Really fantastic picture! I live in Austin and we have a truly massive grackle population. They aren't my favorite bird simply because they seem to push so many of the other birds out, but I must admit they are clever and you certainly can't call this picture 'ugly'!

His 'architectural' shot of the sewage plant in Boston won second prize in a competition. If he'd done what everyone else does, and voted for himself, he would have come first.

It's a beautiful picture, but I do not care for grackles! Whenever one comes, along comes a thousand more, it seems. :)
