I loved The Quincunx.

I'm hanging my head on this one, as I began it a couple of Octobers ago, read 500 pages and just lost track of it in the stack. I'm starting over now, but I know it will be good if I can keep with it, regular-like!
Yeah it's definitely not one you can abandon for a while and then pick up again. But it's well worth sticking with. Which reminds me; I'm going to have to start over with The Luminaries.

Thanks for sharing your link. Yes, we had pretty similar reactions to the beginning and I agree with the observations you made on reading, although I didn't finish obviously. I did enjoy Bleak House (nore than Great Expectations) and somehow made it steadily through that, last December, without pause. It's all how you start these things, I think. And starting with so many other reading temptations in the stack (not true in December!) is always risky. *bites nails*
