the review she uses in comparison sounds like the ones you get from a pay-for-positive reviews service. The multiple mentions of the book title, the generic positive phrases...reeks of suspicion.

I didn't notice that. Great observation.
Now that you mention that, I just noticed it too. Grr. This whole situation just gets under my skin. *sighs*

Good call.

Probably better for author if she had just forked over more cash to buy more of the same. She was probably disappointed at their lack of followers and how their reviews did not make her book go viral.

Sorry you went through that. :(

Thanks, but this is a reblog. It wasn't me.

Ooops, sorry. :)
Sorry to hear you went through that. You go and do someone a favor, which is in essence what you did in making an exception, and that was the deplorable thanks you got. Sadly, I have read enough of these bad author reports that it does make me leery as well of picking up self-pubs. Like you, I have a busy life and I read for pleasure, I do not need the hassle. As others have pointed out, that author should have just paid more to someone else to write her up something nice.

Best.

Uh ... nope, now it looks like she's no longer quitting and has a sappy story of how the mean reviewers hate almost made her quit ...

So glad you got screenshots. So sorry she may be the last unvouched for spa you give a chance. You may not have made her quit writing; but, writers like her sure as hell make some readers never risk reading and/or reviewing SPAs.
How come those bully authors get all weepy, claim they will quit but never do? I guess the attention to the weepy story is too much to pass up. Let's be honest, if you can't be graceful enough as a writer to accept feedback, good and bad, you probably may want to be doing something else.

I have obviously very little patience for the ones screaming over one negative review when they have plenty of positive ratings to offset. There was a very weird bba, NOT this Katie Lynn Johnson, actually trying to start a petition to send to the White House to do something about cyber-bullying reviewers who were gangbanging her book -- literally, book had exactly one 1-star review and all the others were 4 and 5 stars; all over facebook, twitter, reddit and every social media outlet plus had put that in her goodreads book review space, commented on book reviews everywhere about it ...

Thanks, I agree, Debbie. But this didn't happen to me. It happened to a friend of mine named Rashika. She and Faye run a blog called The Social Potato. I just reblogged to get the word out. :) That said, your words are good and I agree with every one.
Gang banging her book? I almost spurted out my coffee when I read that laughing.

LOL, "one" is now a gang ...
