Yeah, I was so looking forward to this book and it disappointed me greatly when I read it. There were parts where it was a slog to get through, while having interesting ideas. I don't know - it's definitely like you said - on paper, a great idea, but the execution? Horrible.

I'm not sure if this series is going to have different authors contributing to it or if Liz Braswell's going to be the person doing the rest, but I'm hoping it isn't just a series that retraced parts of the movie and haphazardly drew the characters and scenarios like this one did.

Yeah...I sort of knew what I was getting into but I thought surely it can't be that bad. I think Disney is doing a campaign of synergy in its books though-you have Isle of Lost and I've seen a Beauty and the Beast thing and Maleficient book at Barnes and Nobles in the YA section (not sure on thier exact titles). Plus, they're doing a tie in to Once Upon a Time that I think is being marketed towards. Great idea in theory, but if you're going to produce such titles they need to have a smidgen of quality like the Lois Lane series that Gwenda Bond is currently writing.

I was denied too. I am really glad I was because I hate doing DNF reviews for NG. But there was no way I was going to finish this sucker.
