I had a hard time both ways in reading the book and the movie knowing that they were both based on an actual couple. There were a lot of differences and similarities in the book and movie but there have been a lot of that as well. I wasn't sure whether he was or not or if it was left to interpretation but that's a conflict of allowing the movie industry to create films based on books.
He's not a bad looking boy, I'm just disappointed he doesn't look how I pictured - the curse of an imagination and books. lol.

I thought this book was created because the author was inspired about the book from in the story? (the one that doesnt end) Which was on a real person - the authors daughter if i recall? admittedly it has been ages since I've read the book so i could be getting everything confused. :/ hahaha
oh i apparently got it from the book....... lol. Just came across the scene in the movie!!
Ugh I think I've now confused myself, lol. Totally thought This Star Won't Go Out was the book that Hazel love to read, but you're right, it's obviously what the character is based on.
I have it on my TBR list but haven't gotten around to reading it yet either, I did hear an audio sample though and thought it sounded amazing. After I get through my most recent library binge I might see if my library has a copy.
I also noticed that the parents seem to not have a life when their out of the screen shot (or much of one when they're in it) - I know people complain about that a lot but I have never noticed it as much as when watching this movie.
Did you enjoy the book? You should def give the movie a go if you did. It's good.
End result - Really enjoyed the movie. Was great.
