I love Gaiman, but I think he's a better novel writer than a short story writer. I enjoy his stories, but nowhere near as much as his longer works. I enjoyed the first two stories or so in this, and then like you I found myself wandering. So it's not just you! :)

Ditto what Michael said. I'm almost finished reading this, and for the most part i've been bored to tears. i've actually read and really liked his short story collections, but this new collection is lacking the wonder, whimsy, and slightly sinister energy that animated his prior work.

Now, see? I didn't like American Gods all that much. I sure as hell LOVED Neverwhere, though. :)
