I've always been fascinated by subs, so that was a high point for me, but the politics did drag on. Still a fascinating sequence of events.
I was in a sub one time and lost my mind after only ten minutes. My brother in law was in the military and took me and my sis down. Full on panic attack. They almost shot me up with ativan.

Oh no, no no.
I've only been on a Growler sub which was super small and it was only a tour of it that did not go down into the water. I would have reacted the same way as you! Ever since I read Das Boot I've been very afraid of submarines-those guys are crazy to work on those things!

Doesn't sound like a book for me but how was Scott Brick's narration? He's usually pretty amazing.
I've heard others saying that it's
a bit too drawn out. Still do want to give it a try. My favorite of his was "In the Garden of Beasts" which I thought was one of the best and clearest explanations of Hitler's rise to power that I've ever read. Fascinating book.
