I don't remember seeing this one before. It's not a new release, is it?

I read somewhere that this was his first book? But like you, I don't remember seeing it available before either.
(Audible sucked me back in for half price for 3 months- this was my first pick of this go-round.)

I put it on my Audible wish list. I was hoping you picked it up in their 2:1 sale but it wasn't one of those titles. Then of course I spent the credit anyway on 2 other books. One of them was The Listener by McCammon. ;)

Oh yay, for The Listener! I picked that one up too, though I already read it. It's wonderful! :)
I've heard several people complain about the "...he said," thing but only people who've listened to the audio version. I don't think one notices it so much when reading silently.

You're most likely correct about that. So far, I've only listened to a few Scalzi books and while I love Wheaton as a narrator and I love Scalzi's work, I may try reading him from here on out. Maybe it won't bother me as much that way?
Well, I don't get the same specific problem but I do wish he'd back off from his current level of reliance on dialogue.
