You would not enjoy my garden in the summer, sadly. We don't have the truly horrific specimens this far south (thank god) but we do have some golden orb and garden orb spiders that are big enough to put them firmly in the creepy-ass category.

Emphasis on the "ass" -- their spider booties are HUGE. (I know, that's their abdomen. Whatever. I like saying spider booty.)

Who doesn't really? Spider booty, spider booty, spider booty! XD

And yeah, they're huge - two of our residents this year had MT afraid of going out back after dark.

Black widows and big orb weavers come October in our neck of the woods, plus a motley crew of other eight legged lovelies to make an arachnophobic's heart race. Nothing compared to Down Under, but enough to creep-out the spidey adverse. I've had close encounters with the widows four or five times, especially when we lived in NM, and I'm so damn glad they aren't aggressive!

And spider booty. LOL
Spider booty! UGH! I do not want to even think about that.
