I was just thinking that the art looks like One Piece! Um, which I know nothing about except from online reviews of video games and anime. And me looking up the cast list to try to figure out what the heck the various characters were.

It does look like One Piece to a degree but it's not the same mangaka (writer/illustrator). And of the two, I recommend OP hands down. This looks mildly interesting but OP has DEPTH! There are so many things going on in it and here, there might be - there's certainly history - but it never rises above middle school humor. I've read enough shounen to gauge how cliche or not it's going to be.
My son and daughters have watched up to episode 600 + last I looked on One Piece. I'm not a fan of it myself. The voices, the animation and the story meh me. LOL I'm not sure how far they've read.
I watched a few episodes of this one but it didn't click enough to keep going

I'm working my way up to that on Crunchroll. I'm only at the beginning of the Time Skip in the manga but I've read through what's out here in manga (I love my library for that). I used to be that way, I once hated the animation style. It takes a bit of getting used to. The bodies are long and when they move there's a bit more deformation then I was used to in manga/anime. The story does take a bit getting into it.

Yeah, I haven't started watching Toriko...I'm not sure if I will or not.
