Oh, I suppose I should have given other links than Amazon, too. Shoot. It's everywhere I believe. Google, Apple Books, Kobo, B&N... all of those sites. Search for STONE AND SILT.
It is.
It is 5.99 at Google play. I think I have seen it on smashwords too.
Nope, not smashwords

Thank you on all accounts.
Hey! It's on Scribd, my hubby bought me a 3 month subscription and I haven't used it yet. How much compensation do authors recieve when a book is read there?
Lornographic Material 4 years ago
Not sure. I know authors get something, but I'd have to ask the publisher. I'll get back to you once I get an answer.
I would rather someone get something out of te money I spent. First month is up in 7 days. I read the first chapter. I could finish this by then.

I'm sure he'd see something from it. All those lending sites pay royalties.

I believe that they get their regular royalty per contract with scribd - I read something about it on Dear Arthur when they dropped a bunch of romance titles because romance readers are too expensive!

Thanks, nospin.
I have no way to get dollars (international currency :c) right now but I'll get it as soon as I can. My best wishes go to your friend. I remember he wrote the "Kindle Paperwhite For Dummies" book.
Lornographic Material 4 years ago
I didn't know he wrote three "For Dummies" books until today. He was also the person who started Kboards, formerly Kindle Boards. Harvey is just an all around good human being. Cancer always seems to attack the good ones.
Hey, I read the kindle paperwork for dummies. I wasn't so dumb afterwards.
You are a good man E. Bought and I'll pass this along

It's not even $5, I wish I could buy it more than once.
Valz 4 years ago
this seems like a major scam to me
Sarah's Library 4 years ago
Really? Is the man not dying of cancer or is the book imaginary?
Lornographic Material 4 years ago
Sarah, you can Google "Harvey Chute Cancer" or visit his Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/harvey.chute?fref=ts

You decide the truth.
Sarah's Library 4 years ago
I don't need to decide the truth, I already read it on Harvey's wife's blog.

I was calling out Valz's assertion that this might be a scam, asking what part of the story seems to be a scam. Harvey's wife has gone to a lot of trouble to write a heart wrenching blog about her husband's battle with cancer (including pictures of him over the years, as he gets worse), so that seems like too much effort for a scam. So if the cancer isn't the scam Valz was talking about maybe they meant buying the book, but no the book is indeed real and it didn't even cost me $5 (as you promised), it was only $3.50. Harvey and his wife aren't asking for donations to help pay his medical bills, they aren't asking for anything at all, you are, and you're not getting anything out this except maybe a karma boost.

Nowhere in any of that does there appear to be any hint of a scam.

I think I'll start writing in ALL CAPS whenever I use sarcasm in any of my posts to you E. I was attempting to use sarcasm in my reply to Valz to show them how ridiculous their claim of a 'major scam' was. Because if you go to the link for the blog you can clearly see that Harvey's cancer is not a scam and if you go to the link for the book at Amazon you can clearly see that Harvey's book is not imaginary and was in fact cheaper than previously advertised. Once again I'm sorry that wasn't clear in what I said. As I said above Valz's post I did buy the book, and considering how cheap it was I wish I could buy it again.

Gotcha. I was responding to you because I wasn't going to justify Valz comment with a direct answer to her. I couldn't believe someone would be heartless enough to leave a comment like that without bothering to check first.
Valz 4 years ago
I still think it's a scam. A purchase is as good as a donation. And don't go all uppity on me. I am so not heartless. I have breast cancer for the third time and it is incurable this time. I know what cancer is like. I just smell something wrong with this. Please provide more information than you have.

All the websites and blogs I mention are legit. You can literally watch him waste away on Carrie's blog, if that's not enough proof for you, I don't know what else to tell you. The family isn't asking for money. I'm asking people to buy his book so that he can see the novel do well before he dies. I hate even responding to you with the attitude you've shown, but there you go. I cannot fathom someone who has cancer being so vile toward another victim of this disease.

I could have blocked you. I could have deleted your unfounded claims, but I let you speak. I wanted to do something nice for Harvey. That is all. At this point, I don't care what you believe. Consider this my final comment on the subject.

I bought the book. I feel so sad for Harvey and his family. I'll pray for them.

Thank you, Mona.
I just bought the kindle edition. I will reblog this too. What a wonderful gesture E. You are a very thoughtful person. *hugs*

Okay. I gather you all believe this is true and I hope it is not a scam at the same time I hope it is not true. I have stage 4 breast cancer, not curable, I have been through treatment twice and now a third time. I know about cancer. At least this kind. I also know that I get a lot of emails from fake cancer cure places and all kinds of scams. I hoped I would never run into anything like this on Booklikes and then I came across this. Same language. same plea. So if I am wrong, good, great, wonderful. but buyer please beware. people take advantage of sick people all the time. I really and truly hope this is for real and if it is, I applaud you.
