Great review Holly, watchman has had a tough ride on the reviews I've seen and its been waiting on my desk since it came out, so I'm waiting for your updates ;)

Thanks, Paul. You're always so lovely. Yeah, I've stayed away from Watchman reviews for exactly that reason. I'm so bloody impressionable that I knew reviews would influence me!

Whoops shouldn't have said anything ;) hope I haven't sown any seeds before you start.

Great review! What details that made a difference have stuck with you? For me it was the exchange of items in the tree - whereby the kids developed a relationship with Boo.

Thanks. Yeah smaller details like that, BrokenTune. Other llittle things like when Boo came to the Finch house with Jem and the things Scout said to him. Also the way Dill reacted at the trial when he heard Tom talk about being afraid to explain why he ran from the house after his encounter with Mayella-that really resonated with me because I can understand fear like that.

The kids outside the jail talking the mob down was a great moment. I watched the film straight after really enjoyed it :)

I was thinking of trying the film, Paul. Glad you enjoyed it.

The film is excellent. There was a cool documentary that PBS made called Hey, Boo. It was about the life of Harper Lee, her friendship with Truman Capote, her hometown, etc... I learned that the courthouse in the movie was built from the exact one in Harper Lee's hometown, where her father practiced law.

Thanks, Char. I'll take a look.
I've had friends who really liked Watchman, and friends who couldn't stand it. (More of the latter than the former, I think.)

We all like To Kill a Mockingbird.

I've started Watchman, SusannaG. It's meh at the minute, but I'm only 30% of the way in. I'll stick with it to the end regardless.
