I think I enjoyed the little historical tidbits in this book more than the romance itself. I don't have a problem with lots of sex scenes, but I DO have a problem with lots of sex scenes if I don't feel like the couple is really connecting. And while the two had great banter at times, I feel like Galen was a bit heavy-handed in the way he handled his courting of Hester, and would have liked a bit more non-sexual relationship stuff that could make me feel like they connected on a level that wasn't completely physical.

And yeah, I loved Hester's spunk, but she was, indeed, too perfect, and extremely cookie cutter as a romance heroine.

Great review!

Thanks! I just replied to you on another post, so I won't elaborate much! I'm not much of a history buff, but yes, I agree about the historical details. Good point about connection as a reason for sex scenes. I guess that would make it more palatable. I find it too much in general, though, unless it's an affair or something. There has to be a reason for it to appear more than once or twice for me. Are you joining in the Pym buddy read?

Ah, no. I haven't really been following the Pym buddy read updates or anything. But her books sound interesting, so I may join in another time.
