Sounds quite true to life. If they start substituting real historians with English Politicians writing under-researched tomes on Victorian England then it will get really scary.

Mike, did you happen to read the Guardian review for the JRM book about the Victorians? It cracked me up.

"At least we know The Victorians isn’t ghost written, since no self-respecting freelancer would dare ask for payment for such rotten prose."

@Mike Lol! I was attracted to it as it sounded so eerily true-to-life. Plus, I love these type of books. I was planning to read Identity Crisis by Ben Elton, but after your review I wasn't sure. I don't agree with the principle of political correctness gone mad and that's a main focus, isn't it?

I@BT hadn't seen that but now I^ll treasure it. Thank you.

@Hol, Elton's wrting about how social media is being manipulated to create anger and division. One of the consequences is the disempowerment of the libertarian, human rights-based stndards that political correctness was there to protect.

Looking backm I'm amazed we let the right get away with creating and popularising Political Correctness. It created the lie that none of us would behave that way if we weren't forced to and that those forcing us to behave that way did so as an exercise of power. How isnidious that idea is has only become clear to me as I've watched Johnson display his values.
