I love my Fire, too. I also loved my old Kindle and always will because of the battery life but the fact that you can one gadget for books and audiobooks, music and Netflix still amazes me.

Have fun!

You can adjust brightness and font size and all that but compared to a previous generation Kindle, I'd say the readability is probably a little better on the older version - and you're less likely to get distracted by other apps.

Sorry, I didn't reply sooner! I've always used a combo, however I have borrowed a kindle Paperwhite and I have to agree it lasts weeks. I didn't think the readability suffers on the 5th gen fire but however if you stream on it, the battery live does drain a fair bit more than when you just read book's. And I haven't read Snowblind yet, but I can't honestly wait to get my nails into it :)

It's not heavy. It's really light not heavy on the hands at all, if you just use it for reading like I have been doing. It will last for about 2 day's it has so far for me, it's interesting, I might go for a full test see fully how long it can really go when it's just been used as a book reader. I use two hands or pop it up on my lap :)

I found this post while I was searching to see if anyone else had posted about the current Kindle Unlimited pre-paid sale. Just in case you are interested, the sale is here (only 2 days left): http://www.amazon.com/b?ie=UTF8&node=11876821011
