I've had pretty good luck with Amazon customer service (to the tune of them replacing my Kindle Fire free when it stopped holding a charge two weeks after the warranty ran out). Maybe call and explain your situation; they may refund the charge.

They just emailed back telling me they just refund my account. Not all customer services would have done that... I'm relieved!
