Fascinating! Excellent review. Doesn't sound quite my style, but it does sound interesting. And Cricket In Times Square--oh my. I must have subscribed for years, and probably still have some editions. Very, very interesting that he had such a different voice.

thanks Carol! I would say this is definitely not your style of book.

one of the most interesting things about Story of Harold is its self-awareness of the different voices needed for different kinds of stories. so much so that the sequences with Terry telling stories to Barney have a really meta feel to them. The author looking at Terry and looking at children's stories and looking at the children's stories he wrote and so looking at himself, George Selden. fascinating! I should have written more about that in my review.

it is a sad thing that "Terry Andrews" only wrote this book. but I'd like to check out the Cricket in Times Square now.
