Those "stroke of dumb luck" reads can oftentimes be the best ones! I haven't read anything by this author, so this novella might be a good way to go for me. At least until I get addicted to yet another series. LOL Great review!

Thanks. Stroke of Dumb Luck (under name Shiloh Walker, before she started with this pen name) and this are $0.99 each, so it is great and cheap way to get started with this series. I highly recommend it, especially for people who like Kate Daniels. This series is in my top ten favorites that are still active.

I love this series. I've actually never read anything by Shiloh Walker and Blade Song was my first experience with her. It's been awhile, so I don't remember why I only gave it three stars, but I liked it enough to read the second book which I felt improved dramatically. So I'm jealous you got to read this one, it sounds great :) Also--A Stroke of Dumb Luck is free on Tor.com: http://www.tor.com/stories/2010/07/a-stroke-of-dumb-luck

Shiloh Walker writes more contemporary romance and romantic suspense. Here paranormal FBI series was what got me into her and I've read several of the suspense and loved them. I'm not so much into the contemporary myself, but that is just a personal preference. I would recommend her. She does have one trilogy on audio, which is good (The Ash Trilogy). It is a story about a serial killer in a small town. If you start, you pretty much have to read all three to learn who the killer is.

Thanks for the heads up about the download! I appreciate it. I didn't realize A Stroke of Dumb Luck was actually the name of the novella. *heads desk* Time for coffee me thinks.

A Stoke of Dumb Luck is the first prequel and then this is the second that takes place between that story and book one (Blade Song)
