This one confused the hell out of me when I read it (probably when I was five or six?). I remember the first two books fondly (at age first read, I'm sure lots of things escaped me but the mom as scientist with beakers, space travel and time travel just utterly enthralled me). I still haven't read the last book; not sure if I read #4 or not it's been so long.
Yeah, it can be quite confusing at times. There were a lot of characters with very similar names that really all act similarly, too. It was a bit too much at times. I still have hopes that the last two books are good even if this one was a bit of a flop for me.
