Alex Verus would like a nice quiet life, but everyone seems to be unable to let him and he can't stand seeing his friends hurt and some friends are less human like than others. This was interesting and it was also interesting how he learns as well about himself and about those around him.

A much improved 4 Stars Cursed, the second book in the Alex Verus series, is much improved form the first. First and most important, the story was much tighter and easier to follow in Cursed. The reader is brought alone with two major storylines at a brisk pace. While I feel the none of the chara...

So we come to the second book in the Alex Verus series from Benedict Jacka and it has solidified in my mind that this is a set of books I'm going to adore...and read every single one for as long as the author cares to keep writing them. I love this series. Book 1 was good, and this one was even better. I love Alex. I love Luna. I love the writing, the setting, and the world. There are flaws, but they are minor. A monkey's paw, a dragon, a giant spider, and a girl who kills with her touch. Awesome.

I really like this series. I want more Starbreeze. Read Fated first, this one spoils too much of the first one and you'll want to read both (and Taken).

Verus is back in good favour with the light mages and has settled into a routine of training his apprentice Luna. He still worries about introducing her to other mages, but he is determined to teach her how to manage her curse. It seems that things cannot run smooth in Verus' life for long, becaus...
