D. Duane Cummins, born 1935, has been Visiting professor of American History at Johns Hopkins University since 2002, teaching graduate courses. He served as president of Bethany College from 1988 to 2002, Moderator of the Christian Church 1993-1995, and president ofthe Disciples Division of Higher Education 1978-1988. He is former Darbeth-Whitten Professor of American History at Oklahoma City University 1968-1978, former interim president of Brite Divinity School at TCU 2002-2003, and former interim president of the Disciples Historical Society 2004-2005. Dr. Cummins has authored or edited multiple books on both Disciples and American history.
