"lugubrious", "pulchritudinous"... On the same page. Like a paragraph apart. This author is pissing me off. PUT DOWN THE THESAURUS AND STEP AWAY FROM THE OBSOLETE WORDS."eschatological", "antimacassars", "saturnine", "loquacious", "eponymous", "onotological"... OMG JUST STOP.There are a few moments ...

While this does make use of some of the same tropes and motifs found in too much Urban Fantasy today, it is a cut above. If you are thinking it will be like Carey's Kushiel books, think again. There is a hint at a romantic many sided figure, but just a hint, the main focus is a mystery. So while ...

Like a lot of people, I got my introduction to Jacqueline Carey through the Kushiel books, so when I grabbed this one - an urban fantasy detective-style story - I wasn't quite sure what to expect. Lots of sex and gore? Complicated political setups? Doomed romance? Well, no, no and maybe, in that o...

Star Rating: 3.5 Stars, Borrow it Self Purchase, Kindle Edition First Impression: I love how Daisy has a tail she has to keep under control. I like how she has a lesser demon for a father. It’s fun and entertaining however, there is nothing new or special about this one. Yes it has a mermaid whi...

Daisy is the child of a demon, which means she has a constant temptation to embrace her vast potential power – and possibly end the world. This would be a bad thing Unfortunately her job as Hel’s (that would be the Norse goddess Hel, not Hell) liaison to the Midwestern Eldritch resort town of Pemkow...

Enjoyable, fast read. Like the approach to world building, but the aggressive amount of supernatural hotties that Daisy ran into in one week strained credulity. Enjoyed the werewolf resolution tho. The supernatural Kinsey scale bits made me roll my eyes-- be bi or don't be, don't faff about.

I loved this book so much. The world reminded me a lot of the Mercy Thompson books, like they could be the same world but different spots in the US. The fact that Norse mythology was prevalent was awesome. Great mystery. Interesting characters. Great world building.

I really enjoyed this book, you were thrown in to action straight away and introduced to all the main characters in straight to the point words.I liked the character of Daisy from the start, she was a likable well written character who didn't let the fact she was a hell spawn get in her way.Cody was...

I read this book for the October book in Vaginal Fantasy Bookclub, and I am happy I did.Because I just don't have the time anymore to write reviews, all I want to say is this book rocks and is so much better than others in its genre although I do wish it was more fleshed out like Carey's other books...
