I admit, it took me a while to get into Dearly, Departed properly - the infodumps in the beginning were particularly heavy going, although with this sort of rather different worldbuilding (22nd century, basically post-apocalyptic, steampunk/New Victorian world, with zombies), it was both somewhat ju...

The book had some fantastic one liners, and some really need steampunk integration, but 60-70% of the book I simply could not stand. Pretty much every "authority" figure in the book was a fanatical zealot and/or overbearing idiot, and ultimately made parts of the book rather unenjoyable.

November alt-pick for Vaginal Fantasy BookclubI LOVED this book. So many interesting elements to it. I loved how Nora had kind of a sarcastic Sylvia Plath type attitude at times. Some of the zombies having metal parts seemed almost steampunk to me which I thought was cleaver seeing as the novel ha...

I get it. Zombies are the next progression in sexy YA creatures. I can get past your boyfriend being pale and a little cold or being seriously hairy but decomposition?! Your boyfriends nose falling off while you are making out is not something you can get over!!Dearly,Departed is set in a post apoca...

A zombie romance? I mean is that even possible? I mean... ew? I have to admit my curiosity was much more than my ew response, so I started reading this book.I was surprised how easily I got in to this book. It crosses several genres. It was part zombie (duh), Victorian, Steampunk, and Dystopian. Hon...

I actually really liked this book. I had a friend who asked me what genre is was and I described it as a "futuristic sci-fi, based in a Victorian era with zombies and romance". I really like sci-fi and the Victorian era. The only thing I had no experience with was zombies, but they turned out to be...

If you can get over the ick factor of rotting flesh, this is actually a pretty good story. I'm not a huge zombie fan, but I found myself entertained by Dearly Departed. This was an interesting mix of YA, steampunk, dystopia and zombies. The year is 2195 and due to the melting of the polar ice caps...

This is probably one of the toughest books for me to read thus far. It's got steampunk elements, zombies, a mysterious government, and a human/zombie love interest. Sounds perfect, right? Unfortunately 'Dearly Departed' fails to really excite readers. The multiple viewpoints comes off as confusing, ...

4.5Die deutsche Rezension gibt's hier._______________Nora Dearly lives in the 22nd century in America – at least in what’s left of that. One and a half centuries ago, the world collapsed when one catastrophe followed another and only a few survivors were able to find a new spot to live on. In distor...
