The description of this fantasy anthology promises swordfighting and romance. Well, there is some of both in here, though not in every story; but that isn't the key to what gives the book unity. I realized part way through that many of the stories take place in settings where social dynamics involve...

Overall this collection of stories only made up approx 70% of the book (the rest was dedicated to promotion of the author's other works) and left quite a bit to be desired. There weren't really any creepy stories here, and the 'horror' was in very small quantities. My favourite story by quite a way ...

The book is a compilation of ten different stories. My favourites were Death comes for Maggie McDaniel by Grayson Bray Morris which had an unexpected and doleful ending; and Druid Stones by Rayne Hall for it tells how individuals scruple to help strangers. The most weird or rather funny was Creature...

I... don't know what to do with this book. It starts out very good. I LOVE the concept and the world building. I love the idea of doing a fantasy story around Israel and the Middle East and the LONG history there. However, I can't go higher then a two because of the structure of the book. First, thi...

This was a solid anthology. Like most anthologies, a couple stories didn't do it for me, most were good, and a few great. Two of the stories that stood out the most to me were Tanith Lee's and K.D. Wentworth's.

It took me a long time to finish this (because I kept getting distracted by other things), but in the end I really enjoyed it. It re-treads some familiar ground from Hawkmistress but gives us the bigger picture, as well as showing us how the famous Varzil the Good came by his reputation in Darkover ...

I found this one a bit disappointing. I am always interested in reading about Darkover and especially after the Terrans establish a base there, so you have the whole "clash of cultures" thing going on. In this one, though, I felt that people were acting stupidly and out of character, simply for pl...
