An Un-Calibrated Centrifuge

Since the letters run a little long, I get the feeling that this picture book would suit young school-aged children best, but I'd be interested to read it with kids and see what they think. The premise is cute, but it's not one I would love to read over and over again.

Duncan just wants to color, but when he opens his box of crayons, he finds only letters. The letters are hilarious and from his crayons. They all quit! Duncan finds a solution for them all to be happy. Lexile Measure: AD730L I would use this in the classroom with a writing/coloring activity. The...

This is a silly book that brings crayons to life. The crayons are writing letters to their owner Duncan why they have decided to quit. As Duncan is reading all the letters, he gets a really good idea on what to do next. One great activity to have the students complete after reading this story would ...

Duncan's crayons are tired of being forgotten about. Poor Maroon got lost in the sofa cushions, turquoise got stuck to Duncans socks after accidentally being stuck in the dryer, and Pea Green who knows no kid likes peas so he won't get used. All of these crayons write post cards to Duncan asking to ...

What a hilarious book! This is the best Drew Daywalt book I have read. I found myself laughing out loud as I read this book. The illustrations are just as entertaining as the text as this duo takes quite an adventure together. I’m not sure who I like better in this book, Huggie or Stick. Huggie an...

When Duncan goes to use his crayons he finds notes from all the crayons and how they are feeling! Red is overwhelmed. Purple is tired of being colored outside the lines. Beige doesn't like to be called light brown or dark tan and doesn't like being in second place to Brown! Grey is tired. White is f...

Duncan just wants to color but when he opens his crayon box he finds only letters. Letters from his crayons all saying the same thing - his crayons have had enough! Blue needs a break from coloring the sky and the ocean. Orange and Yellow are no longer speaking for each believes they are the true co...

This book is a collection of letters written by a child's crayon to the child. Each letter is written by a different crayon and includes a humorous explanation of how each crayon feels about being the color that they are. This would be a great book to introduce the format of letter writing. Studen...

For more reviews, check out my blog: Craft-CycleI normally don't do half stars, but I really am between 2 and 3 stars on this one. Overall, this is an interesting read about the fictional origins of Rock, Paper, Scissors. Those origins are basically epic battles between household items. Why are the ...

Who doesn't love this fun story? This silly tale depicts the struggles faced by a box a crayons that belong to Duncan. I love to read this aloud to young readers. There are many opportunities to add ridiculous voices and accents that little minds love. This book could be used in math to graph which ...
