I fell in love with the first book in this series, Wool, when I read it. It's one of my all time favorites. Then I read the second book, Shift, and hated it. It was written in a different style then Wool and it contained a lot of flashbacks to older times which didn't do anything for me at all. I wo...

**My review of Dust in particular:I'm out of words. I cried. I couldn't put it down. And while the ending wasn't ALL I was hoping for, it certainly led in the right direction and left me with a feeling of cathartic euphoria that still pops up to say hello every time I talk about this series. Read it...

Originally read March 24, 2014 This was another great book – I enjoyed it almost as much as the first book in the series, Wool. The story takes place after the events of the previous two books, and it moves events forward in an interesting way. We finally get answers to all of our open questions...

Not as good as the others. The conspiracy lost steam as the series progressed. Will review all 3 at once in the omnibus volume.

I don't know why, but I actually found Dust kind of forgettable. It's the third in the phenomenally successful Wool trilogy, featuring the excellent Wool, the quite-good Shift, and now the OK Dust. After the flashback fun of Shift, Dust returns to the "present" of Wool, the "present" of Silo Eight...

And then there was hope. Recommended for people who have read the other two books and have to know how the trilogy finishes.

"She felt none of the fear from the last time she was sent out, but none of the deluded hope that drove many to exile. Somewhere between pointless dreams and hopeless dread was a desire to know the world, And, if possible, make it better." (page 113)Though Dust is largely plot-driven, it is worth me...

I love twists in my fiction. But sometimes a twist isn't the most important thing to have in a story. When the twist is all that a story revolves around, that it doesn't survive without the twist, that twist becomes nothing more than a pivoting gimmick. The reason I point this out right now is becau...

My biggest issue with this volume was the crass emotional manipulation going on in the story. It's one thing to create a situation and then dole out pieces of information to slowly reveal what happened, but in Dust, Howey tosses out any subtlety and just starts messing with you. See, near the thre...

Writing: 4.5Story/Plot: 4.5Depth/Detail: 4.5Enjoyment: 4.5Simply put, this is one of my favorite series of all time. One of the few that completely lived up to the hype for me - the writing is great, the characters are great, the world is great, the drama is great. I don't feel the need to write a 5...
