This book was definitely entertaining, but I wonder about how much of it was factual. It claims to be the diary of a first-year teacher, but it seemed very idealistic and unrealistic.And it didn't sit right with me that there was a time when her students stabbed a substitute teacher in the back with...
this is one of those books that any teacher, or anyone inspiring to be a teacher should read (although, I don't fall into either of those 2 categories).
Great read for teachers or anyone working with children.
A true look at the first year of teaching in an inner city Chicago school.
Love, love, loved this book. Esme's writing is humourous, honest and real. I recommended this book to a friend, who also loved it and then, after deciding that teaching wasn't for me, gave my copy away to another friend who was starting her practicum.
