With "Elevation" Stephen King steps aside from horror to write a poignant little novella on unity, tolerance and rising above the fray. Of course there is also a supernatural twist. For me it works because of its brevity and not in spite of it. Just enough is explained to inspire reflection, without...

Stephen King does it again! Though a quick read, King finds a way to get you into the story and he doesn't let go. You find yourself rooting for the characters and sometimes you find yourself crying for them. I just loved this story. Short but sweet, it is.

I was honestly surprised to see that King keeps returning to Castle Rock. I thought he was done with his fictional town, but he keeps coming back. There's some nice callbacks to former novels and to his latest "Gwendy's Button Box" too. The main character in this one, Scott Carey bugs me a bit thoug...

This was a perfectly meh weird story. It didn't offend me but do you know what does? The fact that Goodreads READERS awarded it the best HORROR novel award only because it had Stephen King's name on it. Do these people even read the genre they are voting on? Do they even read the books? Anyway, this...

Well, I got the unique part, and frankly, didn't miss the scary part.It was such a cool little story because of the s...

Odd little short story. If I'd received it in a plain brown wrapper & been asked to guess the author, King wouldn't have even entered my mind. Usually his characters are so well drawn you feel they could be your neighbour. Here they are lightly sketched & in a couple of cases, one dimensional stereo...
