Elizabeth Lyon is an independent book editor, instructor, conference speaker, and author. She began her full-time career in 1988, teaching dozens of community ed writing and publishing classes and workshops in Eugene, Oregon. She led three critique groups of writers on a weekly basis in her home for 13 years. She consults with writers, and edits their whole or partial books, queries, synopses, and proposals. Elizabeth has participated in the publishing success of dozens of nonfiction books, novels, 'indies' (self-published books), and contest winners.She lives in Springfield, Oregon. An excellent overview of the writing world for newer writers, but not much here for those with experience. Lyons writes clearly about the markets and the nuts and bolts of different forms of writing, making it a great college textbook.

I've just finished rereading this book. I'm glad I did. Some of Lyon's advice stuck after the first reading and is part of my routine when I revise.There was a lot more left to incorporate.I will be skimming this book again. And again. And again.
