Born in Glendale, California, Elizabeth graduated in Journalism at the University of Southern California. She was a newspaper editor, then an advertising copywriter before retiring to raise five children. Her first picture book, Mrs. Minetta's Carpool, was published in 1985. Since then she has produced many notable books for children.Elizabeth has taught a number of classes in picture book writing, has spoken at a number of conferences, and often visits schools. She is married to Jim McCoy and lives in Cayucos, CA.
