3.5 stars - Lovely narration by Nana Visitor but, other than a few additional details, there was very little added to the original pilot. Great for hardcore Niners.
One of the better Trek episode adaptations, this was also one of the better beginnings to a novel series, as it actually gave a lot of new information that didn't detract or contradict what was shown in the first episode of DS9.
I guess one comment that I read probably sums this book up quite adequately: it is not a nobel laureate grade novel but enjoyable nonetheless, though probably more suited to hard core trekkies. Now I am far from being a hard core trekkie, though when this series came out I did get my hands on a few ...
I was reading this around the same time I read the ST:TNG pilot novel. Nice thing about novelizations is that they provide additional insights on the characters. Over time, of the series, DS-9 became my favorite, especially later as the series progressed.
