I went on vacation at the end of October, read a surprising amount on the trip, and stopped reviewing books here. To be fair, booklikes was having issues before and after I left, so even when I was trying to review books I couldn't. So I'm catching up now before the end of the year. I enjoyed Esi...

I thought that Mr. Hoppy was an adorable old man.

Read for a challenge - read a child favorite.I remember I loved this book when I was little - even did a book report about it. I do see now that I'm older, that it's not exactly decent of him to lie to a gullable older lady to trick her into falling in love with him, but it's still cute :)

The combo Roald Dahl- Quentin Blake can't do no wrong. It could be either about a child or about an old man, like in this case. It is a book for children, but there are no children in this story. The drawings are as cute and funny as ever.

Oh my. What a cute book. This is one of the books I've never heard of in my collection so I had no idea what to expect going into it. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this was one of Dahl's sweeter books. When you really stop and think about his books, you'll realize many of them are a bit me...

Another childhood discovery. Not too bad, but not amazing either. I can definitely see what attracted me to it when I first read it at age 10, but unlike many of Roald Dahl's other books, it really doesn't offer much to the adult reader. I AM glad he thought to tell us what happened to Alfie though,...

I didn't know what this one was about when I grabbed it. I thought maybe "Esio Trot" was the name of a foreign little boy. Turns out it's "tortoise" spelled backwards. This one's kinda dumb. It was published the year Roald Dahl died, and I think he'd lost his edge by then. I'll give it three star...

I read this book for a speech and drama exam once. I remember it fondly. Roald Dahl was a genius.
