It was odd to see Chess before she became a Debunker. I really hated both Jillian and Trent, although Vaughn was okay. I can't remember the books saying anything about Chess working with the black squad (although she does in one of the books).

I read another review that said this was not for new readers but those who kind of already know the story. I agree and disagree. I think those of us who already know Chess got a lot more insight into who she is but a new reader would get to see the development of her. This was a lot of fun. I enjoyed...

While I get that we were given a slightly cleaner, more immature Chess, it just didn't sit quite right. I did like that we got to see more of Chess's abso...

This is an introduction to the Downside Ghosts series and my least favorite since it occurs before Chess meets Horrible. There are series inaccuracies here in that Chess meets people that in a later book she meets again for the first time. That really bothers me, But other than that it's a good read...

Meh. Not my favorite. I enjoyed the first half more than the second. Felt like it was a bit too far-fetched and that made it hard to take any of the characters seriously.

I just finished this one and I have to say I'm not quite sure about it. It has killer ghosts and a junky heroine. Yes, she had a horrible life but dang I didn't really enjoy reading about an addict wanting their next fix. I'm still kind of curious about this series, I just don't know if I'm curious...
