This book reminded me A LOT of the movie "Beaches" with Bette Midler (which I loved, by the way). Made me cry (although that's not really all that hard to do). It started out as 3 stars, but I changed it to 4 once I got so emotionally involved. With that said, though, I don't want to read books like...

A tearjerker at times, and compelling, but I felt a bit as though the growth that we should have seen wasn't there. But by the same token, sometimes that's the way life is - people should grow and learn and change, and they don't. I felt that Kate had more growth than Tully did - Tully especially se...

o.m.g! this book is an excellent book. I could not put it down! I related so much to Katie throught most of the book. There were only two things I did not like about the the writing. This was a great book about friendship. It followed the friendship of two girls who met at 14 and spanned the next three decades. A good read that kept my attention and had characters that were well developed.

I finally connected with the characters near the end of the book. However, not as much as I was hoping for.

I didn't like either of these women, so much so, I wouldn't want to be friends with either of them in real life. Tully is too selfish and self centered and Kate makes a doormat look tough.

An amazing tale of friends throughout years and many great and hard times. Get through the questionnable scene at the beginning and disregard the use of the "f" word and the book is amazing. If you want a book that gets you at the heart and makes you know the characters, read this book. (or listen, ...
