DNF. the book bored me. I started to pick it up again and the dread at having to slog thorough it decided me. plot twists are one thing, this book is poorly written whiplash. I like Flora as a character, really wish she was in a better book.

Flora wants to be a ranger (a kind of mage spy), but sees no way out of her future, since her mother (the General) is something of ...

I’ve been meaning to write a review for this for ages. Flora Segunda is a middle grade/early teen novel that takes on surprisingly complex themes in a deliberately light manner that serves to delineate the importance of the themes under discussion. Flora lives in a world where there are Great Houses...

Just realized I haven't written a review of this! Where does the time go? This is another hard one to discuss/rate because there was much I was impressed by - wonderful believable fantastical world building, interesting dynamic flawed characters, a unique and unpredictable plot. All good stuff! ...

This has a very definite, very accomplished, and very twee voice. It drives me up a wall.
