Dr. Ancona was born and raised on Mulberry Street in Little Italy, Manhattan, NYC. He is a proud veteran of the Vietnam-era and is married to artist Janet Ancona.He has been a professor for 35 years. Currently, he is a full professor at Sussex County Community College, where for nearly the last 25 years he taught and still teaches courses in English, Mysteries, Comparative Mythology, and Dream Interpretation (member, International Association for the Study of Dreams). He holds two doctorates, D. Med. Hm. from Drew University and Doctor of Arts from St. John's University. He has a B.A. and M.A. and has completed graduate training in psychoanalysis. He also completed a McGraw Visiting Faculty Fellowship at Princeton University.He has authored five books and numerous articles. He has been cited for Teaching Excellence by New Jersey Council for Community Colleges; he is also a NISOD recipient. He is a former Assistant Editor of the Journal of Evolutionary Psychology and served multiple terms as a "distinguished scholar" speaker for the New Jersey Council for the Humanities.
