My background as a Speech Language Pathologist includes extensive experience with a variety of techniques and strategies to use with children with disabilities. Interestingly, many of these strategies are also very helpful with typically developing children as well.

Social Narratives are considered an EPB, and are known to be effective for children with ASD. Social Narratives are short stories that provide objective statements about a variety of social situations, and break down complex activities helping the child understand the expectation and social norm.

While Social Narratives are typically individualized to the person and situation, this story is a general framework that applies to a child’s first experience of preschool.

To help ease my daughter’s transition into preschool, and lessen normal separation anxiety, I created this social narrative.
