This book started out OK but it quickly got excessively repetitive to me. I couldn't help but wonder if Diamond was just trying to figure out how many ways he could say the same thing. I mean, sheesh, you've already told us once do we really need to hear it again? The book could have been shorte...

I found the argument very convincing and very interesting. It definitely changed how I thought about history particularly early history.I will say that I am still somewhat skeptical of it as a unified theory of all of human history, but it clearly is an important contribution to the discussion abou...

"Prehistory with a theory"If your interested in prehistory, you will be interested in this book. The author has a theory on why civilization progressed across the continents the way it did. I enjoyed "Before the Dawn" slightly more, but both books should be read by anyone interested in prehistory.

So why were Eurasians the people who ended up taking over the world? This question, though he poses a good bit more eloquently, is the one that Jared Diamond sets out to answer in this book.
