Gwen Blakley Kinsler is a writer, crochet designer and teacher who co-authored two technical crochet books. She has written extensively about crochet as art and the artists who make it since 1994 In 1971 as a Peace Corps volunteer in Honduras, Central America, she never dreamed that the simple thread crochet learned from co-workers in a small mountain village would lead her on an awesome and passionate crochet journey. Whether it is the "artistic genes" she inherited or the decade in which she learned, Gwen has always pursued unique and extraordinary crochet designs. She was inspired by generous designers eager to share their knowledge and creativity. Wishing to validate the intrinsic worth of crochet, she studied art crochet and began creating her own in 1982. Years of gratifying experiences as the Founder of the Crochet Guild of America brought Gwen a wealth of knowledge about the crochet world, and her book, The Fine Art of Crochet, fulfills a long-held dream! Not only has she created a tribute to her beloved craft of crochet but she has also documented an important and inspiring aspect of contemporary art today.
