Eh, I use the tags "science fiction" and "fantasy" very loosely with this novel. As with all of Murakami's works, it skirts the edge of this and that. It is difficult to follow if you are not paying attention, moreso when you are trying to pay attention to an audiobook as it turns out. There are t...

An early and not very good work by Mr. Murakami. Everything is here to see what he would later do, but this fell flat for me. An easy and straight forward story to read but if you are not up for insight into existential thought it may not be right for you.

I thought this book was going to play out like a sci-fi movie with a little action thrown in, but the potential for action came and then quickly fizzled out. I guess I should've expected it, since the novel is mainly about the mysteries of the mind and its relation to reality. The main character, ho...

The first HM book that didn't draw me in and engage me. It has that familiar weird charm and hey this book even has an ending that I'm going to pass as a satisfying resolution (Murakami is often happy to leave loose ends reeeaaallly loose).I still really enjoyed HM's writing and it kept me intereste...

How the hell do I give this a proper review? Haruki Murakami's Hard-boiled Wonderland and the End of the World is unlike anything I have ever experienced in the literary world. This is my third Murakami novel, and I wasn't disappointed. It contained all of the crazy, whimsical maddness I was hoping ...

Eh? What the hell was that?My first thought upon finishing this, my first Murakami book. A few hours later it hit me like a delayed reaction that I just read something very cool. In retrospect Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World is no weirder than something like PKD’s [b:Ubik|22590|Ubik|...

I just don‘t know what happened here. This is possibly the first Murakami I didn‘t love. And I cannot even pinpoint why that is. From the very beginning Hard-boiled Wonderland and the End of the World and I did not click. I had to work my way in and had to put it down several times and restart becau...

When I first started this book, I had to say 'what the hell?!?!' But once you reach a certain point, it oddly makes sense though I can't say I necessarily understand everything that is going on.The genius of this story is that it is two parallel stories that are related to each other. The jumbled s...

This was the first Murakami book I read and it's still my favorite. It's atmospheric and bizarre in the best ways. It's a fun, quick read but it will stick with you for a long time afterwards. This is one of those books that changed the way I saw the world around me in the weeks after I'd finished. ...
