Harvey Croze is an Amherst- and Oxford-educated zoologist whose first day job was elephant ecologist in the Serengeti National Park, Tanzania, in the late 1960s. In 1972, with Cynthia Moss, he started the Amboseli Elephant Research Project that continues work today as the Amboseli Trust for Elephants. His last position was Assistant Executive Director, United Nations Environment Programme, with responsibility for environmental monitoring and assessment programmes worldwide. He has written or edited and several books. He is currently revisiting his photographic roots aroots and volunteering as webmaster and newsletter editor for the Friends of Karura Forest. www.croze.net
