Hollow City by Ransom Riggs is the second book in the Miss Peregrine's Peculiar Children series. This book picks up where the last book leaves off. I absolutely love this series. It's whimsical and fun. The characters are so unique. The author creates a fantastic world, and the use of old pictures o...

Series: Miss Peregrine #2 Meh? It suffers from second book syndrome (a not very convincing attempt to mislead the reader into thinking the cliffhanger ending is unexpected) and from general YA-ness (but I love you!). I've already started listening to the next book because my other options were...

More often than not, I struggle to like the second book of a trilogy and Hollow City is no exception. To me, the second book feels like all the boring bits between the excitement of discovery and the thrill of the finale stretched out to 'make do' as a book. In other words, book two is all existen...

Another solid entry; simple but imaginative writing with a clear and sometimes surprising progression. Good twists at the end. Fast read with a fun hook. Finding it less creepy than the first book, more fun and engaging. Definitely taking a different course from the movie as well.

Generally, I think I liked this one just slightly less than the first. The only things I have to mention are a couple of complaints. [spoiler] First, they were told Miss Peregrine had 2 days before she was stuck as a bird, so why did Jacob keep saying she had 3?Second, They were so dumb sometimes in...

Peculiar, indeed. It was also so much more too. Like excitement, adrenaline pumping scenes, and a little fear. Oh, how I liked this story. And more than the first book. This book picks up exactly where Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children left off. Which is a good thing. You are left wondering ...

'How long could I stand Florida, now that I'd had a taste of this peculiar life? I was not nearly as ordinary as I used to be - or if it was true that I'd never been ordinary, now I knew it. I had changed. And that, at least, gave me some hope: that even under ordinary circumstances, I still might f...

I like to read this type of fantasy book once in a while, just for a nice break. The one thing that keeps me from reading more is the way things can change in a fantasy in a flash. The Hero's can be in a impossible place to get out of and then all of a sudden you find out they have some special trai...
