I set out with the intent of quoting my favorite passages from this book. By the end I realized there was only one: "I am America by Stephen Colbert." What, you ask? I'm saying the whole frickin' thing is quotable! I Am America is hilarious from start to finish. I snorted, I chortled, I laughed so h...

I find that satire is best consumed in spurts, but the shout-y nature of Colbert's self-named character made this book more tiresome than most. The good: Margin notes act like the "The Word" on his tv show, providing counterpoint and insight. Started reading this in ebook form and it is hilarious. Unfortunately the version I have is very poorly formatted so that his asides and footnotes appear in the middle of paragraphs. I'll have to buy this in paper form.

I guess I'm not american enough. Or I've met too many people who wouldn't even realise this is satire.I'll continue being a fan of Stephen Colbert on TV, and I did get a giggle or two out of the book, but I couldn't finish it.

This book was just OK. Nothing really that special about it, I love The Colbert Report and thought that this would be a hilarious read, but I was wrong.
