In I’m Telling the Truth, but I’m Lying Bassey Ikpi explores her life—as a Nigerian-American immigrant, a black woman, a slam poet, a mother, a daughter, an artist—through the lens of her mental health and diagnosis of bipolar II and anxiety. 5.0 Good collection of essays that form a memoir
FYI - the kindle edition of this book is on sale. Ikpi was part of the Def Poetry Jam, but this is a collection of essays that function as a memoir. If you or some one you know is dealing with mental illness, this is a very good read.
