Readers debated whether Allison Pearson's debut I Don't Know How She Does It was a more nuanced Bridget Jones or something wonderfully different, but there will be no dispute that this UK-based novelist proves her worth in this fiction. Its catalyst is an undelivered letter that 13-year-old Petra's mother intercepted in the mid-seventies. Unbeknownst to her, this star-struck teenager had won a prize to fly to America to meet her idol, singer David Cassidy. When, twenty-five years later, she discovers the notification in a closet, she seizes the opportunity to claim her long overdue reward. I Think I Love You can be read as a telling look on how much we change and, at the same time, how far we can go forward by looking back.

2.0 I Think I Love You: A Novel
Skipped 2/3 of part 1. I didn't miss anything. Part 2 was infinitely easier to get through. Not bad. Examining nostalgia is interesting. Also, I'm curious and will go look up cassidy now.Was on dnf list but skipping pt 1 made me finish.

And yes there are very light moments in the book (and embarrassingly honest, if I remember the 70’s c...

Like the majority of teenage girls, Petra and Sharon have major crushes on the pop idol, David Cassidy at age 13. The first part of the book captures that essence of 13 year old girls everywhere as they long to fit in, yet stand out from the crowd. Petra and Sharon attend David's concert in White ...

3.0 I Think I Love You
Definitely a book of two halves with the first, nostalgia-heavy funny and oddly moving, the better. The second half meanders quite a lot before getting to a fairly predictable ending.
