4.5 starsI've been wanting to read this forever it seems, and it did not disappoint. I love really getting inside Louis's head. I also like how the act of being a vampire isn't romanticized. If anything the emotional crisis for vampires is way higher than humans. I'm definitely planning to conti...

I read this book many, many years ago and wondered if I'd enjoy it as much now as I did then. I mostly did. I was a bit disappointed with Simon Vance's narration, though. That surprised me. I've loved his work on several other books but not this one. I'm glad I reread the book but have no desire ...

Listening to this as an audiobook/MP3 CD was the only way I was going to read this. It's not my usual read at all. I like my vampire stories but I love them to have romance in them, this was very low on that--at least in the respect I mean. There's lot of mentions of love and passion but I think the...

This book grated on my nerves in the affected and melodramatic style it was written. It would have made a fine libretto for an opera, but as far as novels go, it was overwrought. Aside from this, the central character of Louis was a miserable craven, whose agonies were impossible to endure.

Louis has a story to tell – centuries of life as a vampire that he recounts to a very surprised and very curious human. Over the centuries he has experienced many things – tragedies, drama, bitter losses and terrible, guilty confessions and he lays it all out to one mortal listener, along with the l...

[Originally posted on tumblr on 5. February 2013] I put off writing about the books I read recently for a while now. Let’s start with 'Interview With The Vampire' by Anne Rice. Well. Let’s just say that story is probably what you’d expect from an old vampire. I mean, that the narrative sometimes s...

Read in 2011 (form August 29 to October 7) This was one good vampire novel. Pleasantly surprised, I found that it is easy to read and yet not superficial trash. While the sheer fantasy usually deals only with action and invest everything in one goal, to interest the reader, this novel cuts deep i...
