My Never Ending List

I really enjoyed the author’s use of language in this book. I liked how they slowly explained the events occurring, without revealing too much, letting me become totally immersed into the drama. I could feel the intensity and the energy of this book which I didn’t put down until I had finished it....

FIrst of all, the good. The squirrel was funny, and I liked the fact that our protagonist was a boy who's hard of hearing. That's about it. The premise here is that there is a hidden world just below our own, in some cases literally. WIshes - true wishes are made under certain circumstances such...

Ms. McMartin was definitely dead. - Opening sentence Something was moving inside the painting, a tiny white shape flitting between the silhouettes of the wiry trees. - Chapter 2 She couldn't leave the basement lights on all day, with the environment already in such bad shape. - Chapter 3 "A ho...

Let me start off by saying that Lexy Fridell has a perfect voice with which to narrate the books in the Books of Elsewhere series. She's got that high-ish Lisa Simpson voice, and that works for these books since our main character is an 11 year old girl. I wasn't sure if I'd be able to deal with F...

I was unexpectedly delighted by this book. While the premise -- a pair of magical glasses that allows an 11-year-old girl to go into paintings -- wasn't one that grabbed me initially, adding a few talking cats to the mix was sufficient to pique my interest. The book itself is wonderfully atmospheric...

Another fantastic book in this series. This one has even more magic, mystery and action than the previous books. It also keeps getting better and better. Though I didn't like how our main character changed and tried to do something she was clearly warned against. But I guess that happens with kids/t...

3.5 starsThird in the series by MN authoress. Really enjoyed it. Olive is growing and changing as the books go. All the cats, but esp. Horatio, have a role. Aldous himself (in an earlier incarnation) makes an appearance and the old man may indeed soon be back. The revelation about Rutherford and his ...

3.5 stars.Really good. So imaginative and original. I'd forgotten how much I loved this series.Olive is a lovely main character with nothing to make me want to throttle/slap her. Morton is adorable and just makes me want to hug him and make his life better.Harvey/Captain Blackpaw/Agent 1-800/Sir Lan...
